The inspiration for this painting came from the abundance of love and light I felt while participating in the wonderful union of two souls during this couples wedding day.

The photo I took as the couple danced to their song, “Somewhere Over the Rainbow” captures a ray of light beaming through their center. Appropriately so, the light shining through them is symbolic of their love and the magical love in the air transmitted from their family and friends as they took their first dance.

The first dance of the rest of their life becomes even more symbolic since music is at the core of their lives. The sounds and movement captured through my choice of color and brush strokes create an optical illusion similar to that of a vinyl record being spun on the turntable.

Upon adding the finishing touches to the painting, I couldn’t help but sing the catchy tune from the early 80’s by Dead or Alive, “You Spin Me Round.”
