Sox Beginning
1993
Acrylic on Canvas • 24 x 32
This painting is my first acrylic painting on canvas. I didn’t know what it was going to be but I knew I wanted to limit the colors to red, yellow and blue as well as keep the colors true to their pigment without mixing. The goal was to represent the youthful beginning and simple outlines of life. I quickly learned that it wasn’t easy to paint within the lines so to speak. As you create a painting you can paint over what you don’t like or what you last did, and it’s as if the mistake never occurred, only the Artist knows the truth of what he/she covered with paint. However in our lives these mistakes are what shape us and make us who we are in the end! Looking back at this painting today I have found subliminal messages I was too close to at the time to understand. !
Subliminal message perhaps…
Art is

My heart, your wall
Whether you are an seasoned collector or a first time buyer, there is nothing that can provide the same joy as knowing you are the only person that has the original piece of art. The same can be said about commissioned artwork in which you, the buyer dictates the subject and muse for the painting and sometimes even the colors. It’s a pleasure for me to bring to life your interpretation of amazing moments captured by.
